September 2014 

Hola to all my fishing buddies!  here is my Puerto Vallarta fishing report.

The last 3 weeks, mahi-mahi on our 8 hour charters have just gone mad with our boats bringing in on an average 8 to 12 Mahi-mahi in the 15lb to 20lb range and in our 10 hour charters yellow fin tuna and marlin. This past week on one of our 10 hour charters with captain Hector, luck was on our side!  as he hooked on to a 225lb Tuna at the fishing grounds of La corbeteña. He used a live 5lb Bonita as bait and the fight lasted a good 1hr 45 min using a penn international 50 with 40lb test line. During the day they also landed some Mahi-mahi and various other types of smaller game fish. The water temperature is a very warm 86°f and the current is just right for big game fishing. So come down and enjoy some great fishing as we are starting to get busy for this season. Puerto Vallarta fishing report June 2014

Hola once again to all my fishing buddies!

On this trip Fernando and wife went out with the one and only captain Hector. They went out for 3 days and had a wonderful time fishing. On this day they did an 8 hour charter and headed out to the Marietas islands area and they also fished el Moro island. The water temperature has finally warmed up and the tuna,marlin and sailfish are coming in close to the bay. On this day Fernando and wife landed some Yellowfin tuna and also 2 nice sailfish, with one catch and release.

 Their hunt for Mahi mahi was unsuccessful but they did see many but they just were not biting. I expect as the rains are arriving that the river flows that go into the ocean the bay will be teaming with schools of mahi mahi and the giant tuna will get closer. Puerto Vallarta fishing report April 2014

Hola once agian to all my fishing buddies 

On this day we departed from the Marina vallarta at 7:00 am and headed to the Marietas islands. About half mile from the Marietas we ran into a big school of sardines where captian Hector started casting with a castmaster and we landed a couple of 5 lb bonitas to put in the Tuna tubes for use later on the big roosters that are near the Marietas and also El morro island. We continued just past las Marrietas and started trolling with luhres and landed about 5 sierra in the 12lb range. 

Things got slow for a while so moved back to the marietas and started using the big eye live bait just dropping the lines in the shallower areas of the island and quicky started landing small african pompanos!  4 in total in the 5 to 8 lb range. Then we proceeded to change our bait to the bonitas we had previously caught and had in our tuna tubes. 

This was the end of our 8 hour trip and was full of excitement as we landed our first big roosterfish. My friend Kathy from Colorado started fighting the fish for 10 minutes in she was done so husband David took over and brought the rooster in 25 minutes later for a total fight of 35 minutes. The weight was a good 55 lbs. We ended up landing one more big rooster weighing about 35lbs. All in all we had another successful trip with captain Hector. Puerto Vallarta fishing report March 7th 2014

Hola to all my fishing buddies!!

The last couple of weeks have been Roosterfish heaven as our captians have been fishing the Marieta Island and El moro island areas for big Roosters. 

We have been landing roosters from 20 to 50lbs, red snapper 10 to 30lbs, amberjacks 50lbs, These are being caught in the 8 hour charters using Bonitas and big eyes for bait. Sailfish are also in reach on the 8 hour charter. 

On our 12 hour charters near the fishing grounds of El banco the big Tuna started arriving as Captain Nacho landed two 200lb yellow fin tuna near El banco so the waters are starting to warm up and that means big tuna and Marlin.

To all my fishing buddies

In the last 2 weeks the water temperature has cooled to 82f so we have slowed down just a bit on the bill fishing and mahi-mahi but there are still mahi-mahi to be found. On the 8 hour charters we have been landing an occasional Mahi-mahi 15 to 25lbs but the rooster-fish have been in abundance weighing in from 15 to 45lbs. 

Out at the Marietas islands the African pampano have been every where. All our boats have had good luck jigging in the shallow rocky areas of the island and also using live bait (Big eyes) for the red snappers that are in the area. The tuna and Marlin are still very far out and in my opinion its better to wait for the water to warm up and skip the long fishing charters as when the water temp gets up to around 84 or 85 we should start seeing some more action on big marlin and yellow fin tuna.

Hola! To all my fishing buddies 

This month has been very good if you are looking for Mahi-mahi, Sailfish, and rooster fish. We are also landing smaller game fish like sierra and artic bonnita.  This week i had an oportunity to go out with my wife Genovie and friend Kathy with Captain Hector (Tortas) on an 8 hour charter. We started off at (el morro) island which is located about 22 miles from the marina, there we landed several Sierra and artic bonnita in the 4 to 8lb range. From there we proceeded towards the fishing grounds 5 miles from the Sayulita shore were we started using live bait and trolling at about 6 knots for sailfish and Mahimahi,  and were not disappointed  as we landed 4 nice mahimahi in the 20 to 30lb range within an 1 ½  hours . As the day progressed we hooked on to a nice sailfish that  put on quite a show for us. So in all we had a great day. So we will be waiting for you here at Charlys fishing for a memorable day of fishing.Enjoy the pictures!

Puerto Vallarta fishing report

To all my fishing Buddies!

This past week Charly´s team headed out fishing just a couple of miles past the (marieta islands). We left the Marina Vallarta around 7:30 am and reached our fishing spot at 8:45am. Captain Howard and deckhand Nacho decided to fallow the river current that pours out into the ocean during this time of year from the Sierra Madre rain forest into the ocean for many miles, there,  the sardines were feeding and resting under the floating Palms,kelp and tree trunks. We started trolling aside the current and debris and quickly hooked on to a big Sailfish which took about 25 minutes to land.

Then 1 hour later, we landed another nice Sailfish  that we were able to release back into the ocean. As the day progressed Captain Howard decided to start using Big eyes which was our live bait we had in our live well and it didn't take long before we started landing Mahi-mahi in the 20 to 40 lb range,.At last count we landed 5 nice Mahimahi,sailfish and some artic bonitas before heading back. So at this time fishing for Mahi- mahi is of the hook as all boats are coming in with smiles on there faces after having a good day fishing. Hola once again to all my fishing buddies!

On this fishing trip Charles Sutton and his two partners went out with captain Hector and deckhand Victor on a 10 hour charter to the fishing area know as (La Corbeteña) or the Rock , the crew was using Big eyes for live bait  and it worked just great , the ocean was just a little ruff but paid no attention to the swells as the ocean was teaming  with yellow fin tunas in all directions and kept everyone busy bringing in the tuna one right after the other , it didn't take long before  there was no strength left in our arms needless to say out backs to. So if you are planning one coming down to fish in the near future and your looking for some great tuna fishing they can be caught in the 10 or 12 hour charters anywhere from 20 to 200 lb Yellow fin Tuna. Hola to all my fishing buddies from Mexico, USA, Canada and the rest of the world!

As to fishing, we are having our best season in the last 2 years, due to remodeling our office we haven't been able to go out fishing but, Charly´s team has sent out some fishing charters this last month and most of them have had great success so, like the old saying goes: " pictures tell the full story"

This month we sent out several charters and the ocean is teaming with mostly sailfish, mahi mahi and blue marlin.  This month our 3 boats on the spotlight are Hatteras 32 ft, Bertram 30ft  both with Captain Erik,

And superpanga 26ft with Captain Nacho. which had a great fishing days that do not come around everyday. With 2 blue marlins (350lb average) and a lot os mahi-mahi and sailfish.

1st International fishing tournament at La cruz de Huanacaxtle

Hola amigos!
We are happy to share our experience in the 1st international fishing tournament at La cruz de Huanacaxtle,Nayarit.  

Our customer and friend from Texas Joey Goss and his friends Poncho Leal and Dean McLean trusted in us to be the ones to take them to the tournament in one of our fleet boats "El Matador" with Captain Manny as our fishing guide, Mitchell and Israel as deckhands and me, Juan Carlos as their host.

It was an unforgettable experience!

Everything started with a welcome party in Marina La Cruz, October 10th where we registered our team, got our number and freebies, got to know the grounds and enjoy some drinks,tacos and live music as we were making our plan for the next day. 

October 11th.-  Departing at 7:00am after the official inauguration ceremony, we headed to one of the most popular big game fishing areas known as "El banco" (the bank) around 35 miles away from la cruz de huanacaxtle, where Captain Manny spotted our bait (bonitas and choras). We landed around seven two pound bonitas with small big eyes as bait. We came back with a nice sailfish and a lot of excitement!

October 12th.- Day of rest..

October 13th.- Departing at 5:00am after our day of rest, this time we headed to another popular big game fishing area known as "la corbeteña" or "la piedra" (the rock).  Where after landing our bait, fun started...

We landed 6 yellow fin tunas, one dorado and 2 sailfish! It was an impressive day and all our anglers were pretty tired but excited, happy and ready for the next and last day...

October 14th.- Departing at 5:00am we went back to "La corbeteña" and at the beginning, it was slow as bait was not hungry and it was very hard to get it!  Dolphins were all around the place eating our bait, so Captain Manny gave instructions to his deckhands to change the strategy and use different bait. 

Around noon things started to get better, We had a Marlin in front of us and then in our line, Boy that one was big!  but unfortunately... spitted the hook out.  Then, the sound of the reel made us stand up to see what became our trophy… a nice looking dorado!  Yes Ladies and gentleman, after 3 days of hardworking we came back with a 14kg mahi-mahi that won the 2^nd place of the tournament and the jackpot of the day!

It’s an unforgettable experience to be there in the winner´s podium in front everybody knowing that your friends and customers had a great time!

I want to thank Joey Goss from Cheldan Homes in Texas, Poncho Leal and Dean McLane for the opportunity to be part of this amazing experience. Special thanks to Captain Manny and his crew from “El Matador” boat for their dedication and excellent job!

Puerto Vallarta Fishing Report

Hola to all my fishing buddies from beautiful Puerto Vallarta!
We are off to a great start on our prime fishing season. The water temperature is between 83F to 86F and the pacific current is directing itself to our benefit so the warm waters are just right for landing dorado,sailfish,tuna and marlin.
Recently Charly´s team (Juan Carlos, Charly and me Jonathan) went out with captain Nacho approximately 22 to 25 miles out from the marina Vallarta. On our way out we made a quick stop and netted some sardines for the tuna among the big-eyes we already had in the live well. We continued on pass the marietas islands towards "El Morro" island, at first  it was a little slow only landing some Bonitas and then around 1:00pm the fun started with a couple of dorados (mahi-mahi) in the 25lb to 35lb range. We then spotted a couple of stripped marlin but no luck :(   they just seemed not to be on the hungry side so we continued on to the fishing grounds called "el faro" which is just outside the south side of the bay, there... things got interesting. Captain Nacho spotted a nice school of tuna and we quickly got the live-bait and the excitement begun with hookups of 2 tunas at the time landing a total of 9 tunas in the 60lb to 80lb range.
Sad to say we lost one in the 150lb range but..You cant always get them all!
On our way back in, we spotted more marlin but no bites, so I can tell you that the big game fishing is teaming in these waters for marlin, big tuna, dorado and sailfish.
My next trip plan is this Wednesday to La corbeteña and El banco where our captains have reported big blue marlins in the 500lb to 600lb range and tuna in the 100lb to 250lb range which is the great news we have been waiting for, so until the next time... your fishing buddy:

Good morning!
Its been a while since our last post, we have been through some changes here and there, so I apologize to our readers.
Let´s go straight to the point: Hurricane Bud.

Yesterday Aaron Bergman and Captain Hector went to "el Faro" located 24 miles away from Marina Vallarta and came back with a feast of fish!

Well I am back,I just had to take a long vaction but there is nothing better than home.The fishing continues to be one of the best in the last couple of years now that our tourist season is in full swing our boats are going out almost every day of the week and tuna is everywere this year,this past week I whent out with capitan victor on an 8 hour charter,about 22 miles out from the marina outside the northside of the bay to an area called (el faro) we were useing big eye live bait and laned some bonitas to put in out tuna tubes for extra bait,although the tunas are small they shure put up a geat fight,on the average it took me about 20 minutes to land each tuna useing 20 lb test line,the tunas were about 15 to 50lbs on average.thanks to victor and his deckhand for a memorable fishing trip.until next time.

Puerto Vallarta fishing report

Hola to all my fishing buddies!
this fishing season is off to a great start and the first week of October has been one of the best weeks in months! We are landing mahi-mahi from 15lb to 40lb, sailfish and marlin.

This week Michael Mark and friend went out for 3 days, first day 4hr (that will keep you in the bay) and Michael landed 5 mahi-mahi, then next day 8hr and amber jack and mahi- mahi, and 3rd day 8hr they landed a 90lb sailfish, mahi-mahi and some red snapper between 10lb to 15lb (bottom fishing)
so they had a great fishing weekend!
As you see, mahi-mahi can be landed inside the bay and outside the bay for the moment.
